‘E NNUVOLE
ispirato a “Che cosa sono le nuvole” di P. P. Pasolini
(Lyrics: Pasquale Russo / Music: Antonio Fraioli)

“Mo’ viene cu’ me” e pe’ magia
L’aria addeventaje ‘na via:
“ ’A voce je so’ d’ ‘e nuvole”…
‘Nu volo d’ ‘a fantasia!

“E gira ‘a rota ‘e l’anne,
Tiempo aspettanno: ha da passà!
Da cà se vede ‘a terra
Tra pace e guerra: che ne sarrà”

Po’ ancora dicette : ”Che vuò fa’
Si ‘a gente nun vò cagnà
E sparte sante e diavole
Senza sapé ‘a verità

Si n’ommo ride ‘e core,
N’ato ‘e dulore se fa murì.
Ma che ‘sta vita è una-
vide?- nisciuno ‘o vò sentì!”

“Nun m’abbandunà:
Te prego, resta ancora
Si l’ammore fa campà”
Dicevo “senza ‘e te je moro!”

“Siente? Te chiamma ‘o munno:
Si t’annascunne nun te pò fa’ vedé
Quanto è forte ‘a vita!
Nun l’ê maje capito, dimme ma pecché

Vuò cancellà cu’ ‘o viento ‘o nomme tuojo?
T’ ‘o vuò scurdà pe’ sempe!
Vuò cancellà cu’ ‘o viento ‘o nomme tuojo?
E po’ rummane tu!”

“Nun m’abbandunà ….”

Se ne so’ fujute
Belle zitte e mute:
Già m’hanno lassato ‘e nuvole…

PASSING CLOUDS
Trasleted by Pasquale Russo
lyrics inspired to “Che cosa sono le nuvole” di P. P. Pasolini
(Lyrics: Pasquale Russo / Music: Antonio Fraioli)

“Now come with me!” and magically
a path bloomed in the middle of the sky.
“This is the voice of the passing clouds”:
a flight of my imagination.

“The wheel of the age spins around and around
as we’re waiting for: the time flows away!
From here you can watch over the earth
between peace and war: what will be…”

Then I was told: “What could you do
if people don’t want to change
and divide the good men from the evil ones
without knowing the truth?

Next a man who laughs heartily
there’s an other who’s killed by his pain,
but -d’you see?- nobody wants to admit
we are all made up by the same substance!”

“Don’t abandone me:
please, stay still.
If love lets men live”
I said “without you I’ll die!”

“Can you hear? The world’s calling you:
if you hide, you won’t be able to understand
how marvellous living is!
You never got it, tell me why

you’d like to wipe your name away by the wind?
You wish you forgot it forever!
You’d like to wipe your name away by the wind!
But it’s still you…”

“Don’t abandone me…”

Finally fading out
those lovely clouds slipped away
and passed over me
